Job Description

Location: Stairfoot, Barnsley Start Date: September 2024Position: Full-Time Teaching AssistantSchool: Newly established SEN Primary School, part of a prestigious academy trustWe are excited to announce the opening of a brand new SEN Primary School in Stairfoot, Barnsley, this coming September. As part of a large and successful academy trust, we are dedicated to providing exceptional education and support to pupils with SpecialEducational Needs (SEN).We are seeking a passionate and experienced Teaching Assistant who is committed to making a difference in the lives of children with SEN. Our students all have Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs), with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needsprimarily arising from conditions such as Autism, ADHD, and PDA.Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide tailored support to pupils, both one-to-one and in small groups.
  • Implement individual learning plans and track progress.
  • Collaborate with teachers and other professionals to enhance student learning.
  • Utilize strategies like Unconditional Positive Regard to foster a supportive environment.
  • Employ communication aids such as PECS and Makaton to facilitate effective interaction.
  • Document student development using assessment tools like Tivats & Tapestry.
Requirements:
  • Proven experience working in SEN settings.
  • A deep understanding of, or qualifications in, SEN education practices.
  • Familiarity with the principles of Unconditional Positive Regard.
  • Competence in using alternative communication methods, including PECS and Makaton.
  • Experience with assessment frameworks such as Tivats & Tapestry.
  • A nurturing approach and a strong belief in the potential of every child.
