Job Description

Internal Technical Sales Circa £40,000 DOE + some bonus potential We are looking for a Technical Sales Engineer for our fantastic electronics client who are based in Lanarkshire. Although this is primarily an inside office-based role, as the company do business all over the world the successful candidate will also sometimesbe required to travel overseas to visit existing customers and partners.As their products are of a very technical nature, applicants must have an electronics or similar technical background in order to be able to really understand the products and effectively deal with customers, and a background in components, gas detectionand/or OEM original equipment manufacturer volume sales would be desirable. A good track record and a technical background/ability to demonstrate and discuss technical aspects of products is mainly required though, and extensive training will also be provided.Someone who has worked their way towards Sales from the position of Electronics Design Engineer or similar would also be of great interest for this position. Applicants who do not have any kind of a sales background but who have a technical background inelectronics, instrumentation, semi-conductors, etc along with an aptitude for and a desire to move into sales could possibly also be considered.In this role you will be managing and nurturing existing and prospective customers, creating and delivering quotations and demonstrations of products, gathering customer technical requirements and making expert technical recommendations based on their productspecifications.Working hours: Monday - Thursday 8.30am - 5.00pm, and Friday 8.30am - 12.30pm. Friday can be worked from home. More WFH days may be possible but initially they would want you in Mon - Thur.Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage existing customer relationships and respond to new enquiries in a timely manner
  • Follow up leads and enquiries from marketing activities
  • Identify opportunities for establishing new sales partners worldwide
  • Present product demonstrations to prospects
  • Answer technical questions
  • Attend trade shows and conferences
  • Work with marketing to identify new target markets to develop new business opportunities
Personal Skills:
  • It is key that the individual is customer focused, organised and works well unsupervised
  • Has previously worked in an applicable technical sales environment and is able to demonstrate and discuss technical aspects of products
  • Commercially aware
  • An individual who is flexible in their approach
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • CRM systems experience
