Job Description

Operations ManagerMenzies Distribution is seeking an experienced and motivated Operations Manager to join our Biggleswade team. As a company, Menzies is continuously evolving, and we are looking for a candidate who not only wants to be part of our growth but also has theskills to assist and accelerate us forward. We are a time-critical logistics business, delivering supply chain and warehousing solutions for multiple customer contracts.Key Information:

  • Salary: £48,000 - £50,000 per annum
  • Location: Biggleswade, SG18
  • Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday-Friday. 08:00 - 17:00
Key Responsibilities:The Operations Manager will be responsible for maximising the performance of our operations by directing daily, weekly, and monthly activities, providing leadership, motivation, training, and development to our workforce. This role requires extensive warehousingoperations exepreince, with the ability to manage teams and handle customers on a daily basis.Operations Manager Duties:
  • Accountable for managing and supervising the despatch operations
  • Support and develop the operational team
  • Exceed customer expectations by meeting recognised contract KPIs
  • Build and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external customers
  • Ensure operational compliance, including health and safety standards
  • Assist the Regional Manager in achieving operational performance standards
  • Manage the team, conducting regular reviews, and arranging training and development for operational staff
  • Monitor and ensure efficient use of driver and vehicle resources
  • Establish and cultivate relationships with customers
  • Analyse and evaluate operational and financial performance data to identify service improvements and efficiencies, e.g., MPG, Tachos, fuel, and damage
  • Coordinate site housekeeping and maintenance to uphold health and safety requirements
  • Occasional UK travel may be required
Operations Manager Requirements:
  • Extensive experience in warehousing operations supporting multiple customer contracts
  • Knowledge of health and safety legislation and standards
  • Able to manage, motivate, and develop people
  • Customer-focused and able to manage multiple customer requirements
  • Experience in developing and measuring KPIs
  • Effective planning and organisational skills to meet deadlines
  • Proficient in using computerised systems, including TMS and WMS systems
  • High level of accuracy, numeracy, and attention to detail
  • Transport management experience and knowledge of Drivers Hours, Tachograph, and WTD legislation
