Psychology Graduate Teaching AssistantPsychology Graduate Teaching Assistant - ASAP - July 2024 with the view to go to permanentSpecialist School in BlackburnKey Stages 2 to 4Are you a dedicated Psychology Graduate with a passion for making a positive impact on the lives of young learners Do you possess the skills to deescalate challenging behaviour and a deep understanding of Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needsTradewind Recruitment is excited to partner with a highly regarded Specialist School in Blackburn that caters to pupils from 9 - 16 years old with a range of complex needs, focusing on SEMH support. The school is committed to providing a safe, nurturing,and stimulating learning environment that empowers pupils to overcome challenges and achieve their full potential.As a Psychology Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in the pupils educational journey by providing tailored support and guidance. Your empathetic approach, along with your skills in deescalating challenging behaviour, will contributeto maintaining a positive and inclusive classroom atmosphere.Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with classroom teachers to provide one-on-one and small group support.
  • Utilise your knowledge of psychology and behaviour management techniques to deescalate challenging situations.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of individualised education plans (IEPs) and behaviour intervention plans (BIPs).
  • Foster a supportive and encouraging environment to promote social and emotional development.
  • Collaborate with the SENCO and other professionals to ensure effective support for Pupils with SEMH needs.
  • Engage Pupils in a variety of educational and extracurricular activities.
Requirements:
  • A degree in Psychology or a related field.
  • Experience working with children and young people, preferably within Key Stages 2 to 4.
  • Strong understanding of SEMH and behaviour management strategies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude.
  • Ability to adapt and be flexible in a dynamic educational environment.
