Job Description

My client is seeking an Assistant Finance Manager to join their established finance team for a nine-month FTC maternity cover. The Assistant Finance Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day finance function and preparing accounts to trial balancefor the Finance Manager’s review.The successful candidate will need to be office based for four days per week but there can be some flexibility on start and finish times. A free three-course lunch is provided on site.Financial Objectives:

  • To maintain an efficient and timely month end procedure ensuring that the integrity of data is robust.
  • To assist in the preparation of monthly management accounts.
  • To supervise the Accounts Payable and Receivable functions, ensuring transactions are processed in a timely and accurate manner and payments are made efficiently.
  • To ensure the debtor ledger and credit control are managed effectively.
  • To assist with quarterly VAT return.
  • To ensure best practice across the Finance Department
  • To assist with finance side of the payroll process.
Managing People:
  • To support the Finance Officer and Finance Assistant, operating as a service department to operational units as well as performing transactional tasks to a high level.
  • To be fully conversant with disciplinary procedures and all other relevant human resources practices eg sickness, absenteeism.

  • Build and maintain excellent working relationships with team members and other stakeholders both internal and external.
  • To help drive forward the growth and ambition of the organisation.

Desirable Technical Attributes
  • Part qualified/qualified by experience Accountant.
  • Excellent working knowledge of accounting packages (Business Central 365, NAV or similar software preferable), Excel, Word, Outlook and other software packages.
Desirable background
  • Experience of working within the Charity sector.
  • Experience of hospitality business.
