The Marine Stewardship Council’s (MSC) vision is for the world’s oceans teeming with life, and seafood supplies safeguarded for this and future generations. An international, non-profit organisation operating the most globally recognised standard forsustainable fishing in use.Over the last 25 years, the MSC has established a truly global presence, affecting positive, ecological change in oceans and providing certified, sustainable, seafood in more than 100 countries, from fisheries operating around all continents.Underpinning and integral to the MSC’s work and its ecolabel program are our technology and data platforms and services. The Technology and Data Director is a critical role within the Corporate Services department, responsible for the development and maintenanceof all MSC digital and data systems and services, which are provided both to internal and external users.In the last 10 years, we have made considerable strides in the development of our technology and data capability. This has included establishing a new Data and Business Intelligence team, the introduction of a range of digital platforms and tools such asthe deployment of the full Office 365 suite, a new website with improved CMS, the first stages of roll-out of a CRM and the initiation of a data hub, as well as embedding global outsourced 24x7 user support – all designed to support a globally mobile workforceand external partners who use our systems.Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, this role encompasses strategic planning and leadership of MSC’s digital and data transformation, day-to-day service delivery and the evolution of these services, digital and data governance, as well as helping tocatalyse the required changes in staff and organisational skills and culture.In this position, we are seeking an experienced technology and data leader who is comfortable working both strategically and operationally in a fast-paced international environment, managing multiple, often complicated, priorities while delivering excellentresults. The ideal candidate will bring experience gained in organisations undergoing digital transformation and leading change, including the introduction of new platforms (off-the-shelf and bespoke development) and services, and a robust understanding ofhow to safeguard and to organise data for maximum organisational effect.You will demonstrate a people-centred approach, with a track record of effective relationship building across teams within an organisation of geographically and culturally diverse members. You must be able to plan strategically, yet at the same time, undertakeday-to-day operational activities. Crucially, you will bring the gravitas and sensitivity to gain credibility and respect of staff at all levels at MSC and be able to demonstrate to others your empathy and interest in the MSC’s mission and objectives.This is an exciting role and opportunity to directly support the way the MSC delivers its program around the world; it provides a tremendous opportunity for the right individual to make an enormous contribution towards the delivery of MSC’s mission and strategicplans.HAYS Technology have been retained exclusively by the Marine Stewardship Council to manage the search and recruitment of this role.
