Job Description

JOB DESCRIPTIONJob title Specialist Cabinet Maker Department Frame Shop Reports to Woodmill Supervisor Location CramlingtonSummary of Role This role involves skills in all levels of high-end cabinet making from confident use of all machinery to skilled carpentry working with techniques such as inlaying, marquetry, veneering and finishing. This role will work closely with theproduct design engineer, using a range of timber finishes and specialist techniques to produce inspirational bespoke pieces Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities

  • Assembling wooden components using a variety of hardwood materials to make frames ready for the production of upholstery as per the job order specification and checking finished work is to the required specifications
  • Responsible for safely and correctly setting up of machinery and tools including (but not limited to) a variety of saw machines, planning machines, straight line edger, borer, as well as compressed air tools and hand tools.
  • To take the lead on the production of complex bespoke pieces that may require techniques such as veneering and marquetry
  • Maintain safe and clean work environment and follow health and safety instructions provided to safeguard your own health and safety and that of others who may be affected by your actions.
  • Any other reasonable task as requested by your line manager
Skills & Qualifications
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience high end cabinet making
  • Proven experience in the set up and operation of conventional wood machines
  • Confident using a variety of hand tools
  • Knowledge of the properties of various wood materials
  • An eye for detail, ensuring quality standards are met
  • Able to carry out work without supervision
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines
  • Ability to problem solve as required
  • Skilled in advanced techniques such as veneering and marquetry
