Job Description

Are you a Support Worker looking for a new roleDo you have experience supporting children in a Residential SettingReed are working with a family run provider of residential care for children with SEMH who are looking for a compassionate Residential Support Worker to join their team in the DE21 area of Derby.The role involves providing day-to-day support for young people in residential care, supporting them in activities, education, and statutory meetings.You will be part of a caring team, ensuring the home is maintained to a high standard, including cooking, cleaning, and safeguarding the welfare of the young people.Residential Support Worker

  • Derby, DE21
  • Full-time, 0800-2300 plus sleep-in, rolling rota
  • £23,795-£26,520 dependent on qualifications
Day to Day of the role:
  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with young people to promote their sense of security.
  • Provide a safe, warm, and supportive environment, encouraging the development of individual interests.
  • Promote a healthy lifestyle and assist young people in developing positive social networks.
  • Engage in and supervise day-to-day care practices, ensuring the personal development of each young person.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop, implement, and review care plans.
  • Undertake routine administrative tasks and maintain accurate records.
  • Participate in alternating shift patterns and undertake sleep-in duties as required.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Experience working with young people who have challenging behaviours.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and coordinate activities.
  • Knowledge of the issues faced by children and young people, including the effects of abuse and oppression.
  • Ability to use initiative, exercise sound judgment, and maintain confidentiality.
  • Desirable: NVQ Level 3 in Residential Childcare
