Job Description

Assistant Merchandiser, consumer products

  • £26,000 - £28,000 DOE + company bonus & Bupa healthcare

We have an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Merchandiser to join the dynamic team at a leading retail supplier known for its innovative approach and rapid growth! You will be a key part of the Merchandising team, using your commercial eye and analyticalapproach in managing and delivering their products across their retail and eCommerce channels. You will support the Merchandisers across planning and trading to maximise profit and minimise markdown, ensuring products are presented and communicated in themost compelling way to customers.If you have a keen eye for detail, strong analytical skills, and a some experience within merchandising, buying, or supply chain and looking for a career with a great business, we would love to hear from you!Duties & responsibilities for this Assistant Merchandiser will include:
  • Review product performance, identifying trading opportunities and threats under the guidance of the Merchandiser.
  • Determine new and repeat order quantities and weekly replenishment requirements using WSSI as a planning and forecasting tool.
  • Collaborate closely with the buying team to manage the range in line with the critical path.
  • Oversee intake, ensuring the system and delivery schedule are updated with the most accurate information.
  • Produce weekly reports, trade packs, category analysis, and event reports.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with suppliers.
  • Utilise stock management systems to meet sales demand and coordinate with the warehouse for efficient picking.
  • Analyse store performance and stock holding, reviewing store grading and depth requirements.
  • Reviewing trade at line level and adjust allocation levels to maximise stock efficiency.
  • Participate in Monday trade meetings and present in the absence of the Merchandiser.
  • Execute in-store promotional activities, including pricing, POS, tickets, and effective communication.
  • Notify the team of issues with intake, invoicing, or compliance and support the warehouse with queries.
  • Support other business channels as needed.
  • Review competitor activity and conduct store visits.
Experience & skills required:
  • Some experience within an assistant merchandising, buying supply chain or similar position within consumer products.
  • Strong analytical and numerical skills.
  • Commercially aware, well-organised, and with good time management skills.
  • Attention to detail and strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • A team player with the ability to work well with other functions of the business.
  • Good excel skills.
  • Personable, friendly and a enjoys being part of a great team!
