Job Description

Yard ManagerFull time, PermanentWere looking for a Yard Manager for our brand new London Gateway depot. They will lead and will manage all M&R/yard activities and drive high performance and efficiency amongst the operational teams. This role will work with the Container Depot Managerto ensure continual development of processes and procedures and ensure revenue is maximised.This exciting new 9 acre site will be equipped with excellent facilities and with great company benefits and various roles to compliment your skillset, you will be in an environment that is ready to take your career to the next level and play a key rolein MEDLOGs global success.Skills and experience youll bring to us

3-5 years’ experience in empty container depot operation
Minimum of 3+ years in similar positions, running a depot business unit with P&L responsibility.
Knowledge of finance related matters, setting budgets and reporting against financial objectives, and P&L management
knowledge of container equipment standards.
iosh or nebosh certificated advantageous
Driving license required
ECH certification preferred but training can be provided
Good understanding of M&R operations
Previous experience of developing and motivating a team
Ability to manage an operation within fast paced, demanding and changing environment
Able to work efficiently and effectively under pressure
Previous experience and ability to develop strategies and oversee new projects

How you will help us and what you can expect

Manage the daily operations of the container yard.
Maintain the inventory of equipment and supplies.
Manage the budget and expenses for the yard.
Ensure the accuracy and timely preparation, processing, distribution, and retention of all necessary reports and records, regarding all operating functions for the yard.
Be proficient in all yard and operational systems, with the ability and previous experience of delivering operational training.
Act as an escalation point for the yard, providing practical and pragmatic solutions when needed.
Provide summaries of team activities and key metrics to keep senior managers informed.
Ensure compliance with all company Hhealth and Safety policies.
Ensure all routine inspections are completed and recorded in line with company policy.
Ensure repairs for all damaged units are completed in a timely manner, for return to service, in line with company repair standards.
Ongoing performance management and personal development plans for the team, with regular one-to-one meetings.
Deputise for the Depot Mmanager when necessary.
Maximise operational efficiency and the elimination of avoidable cost/waste/loss.
Maximise depot revenue and business growth for new and existing customers.
Deliver the Medlog customer experience and live the brand values.
Contribute to a positive work climate through a flexible attitude to work and support for colleagues and other team members.
Improve the speed, efficiency & accuracy of internal operating processes.
