Job Description

Affinity Fostering Services Ltd are an Ofsted rated "Outstanding" Independent Fostering Agency. Affinity are excited to announce a vacancy for a full-time role of Supervising Support Worker in Essex or East London.Job Salary is commensurate with experience, with an added discretionary annual bonus, car allowance and additional benefits.Job SummaryA Supervising Social Worker with some qualifying experience or newly qualified is required to support Affinity Fostering’s growth in Essex and East London. The position will involve assessing, supervising and supporting a manageable number of our brilliant Foster Carers who provide a wide range of fostering placements to vulnerable looked after children. This is a great opportunity to be part of a growing outstanding team, with great benefits and flexibility.Essential Parts of the Role

  • As a Supervising Social Worker with Affinity Fostering you will visit Foster Carers at agreed regular intervals and maintain a high level of communication by regular telephone and email contact;
  • Ensure all records, plans and procedures and any other data are kept up-to-date and in a tidy and well-ordered fashion;
  • Maintain all files and general administration related to the Foster Carers and Young People in placement, so that information can be shared and regularly reviewed;
  • Develop links between the community and the Agency to enable young people to participate fully in the life of their local community;
  • Promote positive relationships between Affinity Fostering, Service Users and all professional bodies and supporting agencies;
  • Undertake the writing of Form F’s and present to Affinity Fostering’s Independent Panel;
  • Undertake Foster Carer Reviews and present them to Affinity Fostering’s Panel as and when required;
  • Assess and identify support and training needs of Foster Carers;
  • Participate as an Agency Panel Member at Panel Meetings considering Form F Applications, Annual Household Reviews and other matters;
  • Participate in the company’s staff development programme and promotion of specialist skills;
  • Participate in an out of hours support line on a rota basis.
  • Other Duties
  • To act at in accordance with all Regulations and Guidelines as laid down by all relevant Government Legislation;
  • To act in accordance with the Code of Practice of the Health and Care Professions Council.
  • By mutual agreement to undertake the Practice Educator training qualification with a view to providing on site guidance, support and supervision to Social Work Student Placements;
  • To participate fully in monthly Supervision and Annual Appraisal with Line Manager;
  • To commit to company Equal Opportunities Policy;
  • To have the ability to be flexible within a changing environment;
  • To exercise personal responsibilities under the Health and Safety at Work Act;
  • To commit to developing appropriate additional skills to enhance performance and knowledge base.
  • To undertake any training that may be identified by your Line Manager;
  • To have the ability to work in a respectful manner and to add to the passionate team ethos;
  • To have the ability to manage time and self in order to achieve objectives;
  • To have good organisational and planning skills;
  • To perform any other associated duties as required by the Registered Manager and of the Directors of Affinity Fostering.
  • Important detailsThe successful candidate will have access to their own vehicle, have good written and report skills, and be willing to work flexibly to facilitate support work as necessary. The role will be home-based, with travel necessary around Essex and beyond if necessary. Attendance at monthly Team meetings in Essex is required (albeit virtually in the current covid-19 pandemic).The successful candidate will be part of a supportive and cohesive team and will be involved in the ongoing development of the services provided by Affinity.
