Job Description

Production Planner

  • Annual Salary: £30k - £40k (Depending on experience)
  • Location: Bathgate, West Lothian
  • Job Type: Full-time, Mon to Fri (dayshift)
Reed Recruitment is excited to offer an opportunity for a skilled Production Planner on behalf of our client based in Bathgate, West Lothian. This role is integral to the management of manufacturing production schedules, ensuring timely completion of productionorders and continuous improvement of the planning process. Day-to-day of the role:
  • Review forecasts, orders, and liaise with the sales team to determine customer requirements.
  • Develop an understanding of materials, costs, manufacturing equipment, and workforce needs.
  • Create visibility and manage the structure related to material and labour lead times to meet customer delivery times.
  • Develop detailed production plans, outlining all tasks and their deadlines to meet predicted completion dates.
  • Liaise with procurement, production support teams, and maintenance staff to ensure resource availability.
  • Optimise and align with the company’s ERP system for efficient planning and reporting.
  • Continuously monitor the Production Plan’s progress and maintain its trajectory.
  • Troubleshoot production issues, such as material or staff shortages and machinery malfunctions, with the team.
  • Communicate the Production Plan’s performance to internal stakeholders on a regular basis.
  • Analyse and prepare reports on planning process performance to suggest efficiency improvements.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Demonstrable planning experience within a manufacturing environment, ideally within an electronics context.
  • Good understanding of materials and production processes.
  • Ability to work independently and under pressure.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build good relationships with colleagues.
  • Leadership skills to align and motivate peers and lead a team.
  • Proficient problem-solving skills and the ability to make quick, effective decisions.
  • Strong IT systems experience and competence, including Excel, reports, databases, and ERP systems.
  • Ability to prepare and communicate realistic and detailed production plans.
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety compliance and monitoring.
  • Familiarity with Quality System compliance.
