Job DescriptionWe have an exciting new opportunity for an Engineering Manager who will utilise their software skills and experience to guide the team of engineers. The role holder will guide the successful outcomes of the team, and take a strategic view across adjacent teamsfor opportunities to standardise approaches to ensure high quality, high value software reaches our customers. The successful candidate will use their people management skills to guide and advance the learning and development of the team. What youll be doing:

• Seeking opportunities to leverage engineering skills and experience across other adjacent engineering teams.
• Using creative problem solving, develop elegant, simple software from complex requirements as part of an Engineering team, in order to create software which can be quickly and easily iterated upon in the future so that Legal and General can deliver highquality features to the market as soon as possible.
• Ensuring that the solutions developed and deployed are fit for purpose, provide appropriate business value, adhere to quality standards and align to standard engineering practices.
• Guiding the definition of the strategy for the management of technical debt within the team to ensure that Legal & Generals systems are secure, resilient and reliable.
• Enthusiastically promoting inspection and adaptation to improve team effectiveness & happiness, supporting changes to enhance processes and culture, to ensure that the team stays happy, productive, efficient.
• Providing line management and other professional guidance to a group of between two and five engineers, to help them navigate the business and adhere to the Companys policies and procedures, including the Partnership Agreement, so that the teams businessobjectives are achieved consistently.

QualificationsWho were looking for:

• Hands on React Native experience on at least one large commercial project
• JavaScript/TypeScript experience and strong proficiency in both coming from either a web or backend background
• Strong understanding of React and its key concepts
• REST based microservice development, JVM Spring or Node.js
• Strong understanding of mobile application architecture best practices (e.g. MVP, MVVM, Flux)
• Strong understanding of clean code and clean architecture concepts (e.g. SOLID, Onion)
• Experience working as a technical contributor within a development team is essential
• Experience of participating and providing actionable feedback in effective code reviews is essential
• Experience of contributing to maintainable software features is essential.
• Experience of analysing, debugging and solving difficult problems is essential.
• Experience of guiding, coaching and mentoring colleagues is essential.
