Job Description

Our client a leading College are recruiting a qualified Maths Lecturer focused on teaching GCSE or Functional Skills Maths to re-sit students or adults on discreet programmes.As a pivotal member of the Maths department, you will play a crucial role in designing, implementing, and delivering the curriculum for our resit programmes, ensuring the highest standards of education. You will have experience teaching in Further Education(FE) or Secondary institutions, with the ability to engage our FE students to ensure they reach their full potential.   • Deliver high-quality teaching, learning, and assessment on a range of Maths courses and act as a personal tutor.
  • Participate effectively in the assessment process.
  • Implement curriculum and course development within the area of work.
  • Develop schemes of work (SOW)/materials in line with course aims, objectives, mode of assessment, and accreditation.
  • Contribute effectively to teamwork.
  • Deliver high-quality teaching, learning, and assessment, exemplifying best practices in online and e-learning techniques.
  • Continually update knowledge and understanding in the field of Maths teaching and use research techniques and methods to develop your own pedagogic practices.
  • Interview students and take part in enrolment and induction programmes.
  • academic progress, and support students in their choice of progression routes.
  • Identify students requiring extra support and refer them to Learner Services appropriately.
  • Maintain high standards of student conduct.
  • Liaise with parents/carers and external agencies as appropriate to provide pastoral care.
  • Keep accurate and updated course and student records, including registers and reports, and monitor student assessment and achievement.
  • Provide accurate course and student information as required.
  • Monitor student attendance and timekeeping by ensuring that registers are completed daily.
Person specification
  • Qualifications: Requires GCSE Grade C/4 or above in English and Maths, or Functional Skills Level 2. Teaching qualification (e.g., DTLLS, PGCE) mandatory; Level 5 teaching qualification must be obtained within 2 years if not already held. Preferably holdsa relevant degree and Assessor/Internal Verifier Awards.
  • Knowledge and Experience: Must have successful experience designing and delivering learning in relevant teaching/vocational areas. Demonstrates knowledge of Equality and Diversity integration in curriculum. Familiarity with Safeguarding principles and healthand safety requirements essential.
  • Skills: Demonstrates ability to deliver high-quality teaching and embed English, Maths, and ICT support in vocational classes. Capable of motivating students of diverse backgrounds with effective teaching strategies. Proficient in IT skills (Microsoft packages,interactive whiteboards, SharePoint, Moodle or equivalent).
  • Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills, along with good interpersonal abilities.
  • Professional Attributes: Self-motivated and enthusiastic with a commitment to achieving excellence through continuous curriculum and personal development.
