Job Description

A leading international financial institution is seeking a highly qualified individual to manage its Global Media Relations & External Communications across their Securities Services line. The role involves managing the global press office for this specific business line, handling press releases, media queries, and pitching articles. The individual will create and execute strategic external communications campaigns and collaborate with globalmarketing and communications teams. Key Responsibilities of the Media Relations Manager:

  • Develop and implement global media relations strategies.
  • Manage the global press office: write, edit, and distribute press releases, respond to media inquiries, and pitch stories.
  • Identify trends and news opportunities in collaboration with the business.
  • Support local and regional media campaigns with marketing and communications colleagues worldwide.
  • Create content for national news, trading publications, thought leadership pieces, events, and speaking opportunities.
  • Strengthen relationships with key publications and journalists.
  • Brief spokespeople and coordinate media training programs.
  • Analyze and distribute quarterly reports on media coverage.
  • Maintain positive relationships with media relations functions across the group and other territories.
  • Monitor press coverage and competitors, maintaining a press watch, and producing internal reports with key performance indicators.
  • Contribute to various external communications tasks, including corporate, client, and crisis communications, industry award submissions, and promotions.
Ideal Background of the Media Relations Manager:
  • Extensive experience in a busy press office, ideally within financial services.
  • Proven ability to plan, deliver, and evaluate media campaigns.
  • Excellent knowledge of national and trade publications in the UK and abroad.
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills.
  • Experience managing stakeholders in multiple locations.
  • Strong expertise in social media and web content.
