Psychology or Sociology Graduate - HackneyMainstream School working with SEND Students

  • Based in Barking and Dagenham
  • Full-time starting from September

Empowering Learning is recruiting Psychology & Sociology Graduates to work full-time as Learning Support Assistants within mainstream schools across Hackney and surrounding boroughs. You will support pupils with various SEND needs, primarily teaching positivebehaviour approaches.Students with SEND who attend mainstream schools typically have mild ASD and SEMH needs.This position will provide valuable classroom-based experience working as a 1:1 support assistant, which is beneficial for anyone considering a future in teaching.We are seeking an enthusiastic, proactive, and hands-on individual who can take direction and lead when necessary.If you are looking to start or advance your career in education, this is a great opportunity. This role is also suitable for anyone registered with Empowering Learning who has other schoolwork opportunities and flexible hours.Job Responsibilities
  • Supporting pupils with SEN including ASD, ADHD, learning difficulties.
  • Supervising pupils behaviour
  • Encourage and support the pupils learning and development
  • Support social interaction
  • Helping the teacher prepare for lessons and plan activities

Job Requirements
  • Experience supporting children or young adults with learning difficulties or disabilities is desirable
  • Ability to stay calm and de-escalate challenging behaviour
  • Valid DBS registered with the online update service or willingness to apply for a new one
  • Ability to work Monday to Friday 8.30-5.30
