Senior Manager, M&A Tax for Large Corporates, Nationwide

Job Description

This Big 4 firm is actively looking to recruit multiple Senior Managers into their M&A tax team as they anticipate an increased appetite for deals in the second half of 2024 and beyond. The ideal candidates will have experience working within an M&A tax,deals tax or international tax team within another professional services team, or in-house with a larger corporation. The roles can be based across one of a number of offices in the UK and the roles can be tailored to the individuals interests or prior experience- whether that be a focus on financial services, large corporates or mid-markets... This particular role will have a focus on deals within the large corporates team - typically FTSE100 or FTSE250, or equivalent sized US or international corporations. You will be working on big ticket deals that could have an impact of up to 20% on market cap.This will provide plenty of technical complexity and structuring work - the role would be split broadly 60% towards structuring and 40% towards due diligence work. Aside from Financial Services clients, you would be able to get exposure to a cross-sectionof client sectors (eg. Energy, Consumer, Pharma, TMT etc). Key Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with Partners and/or Directors on complex transactions to deliver exceptional advice and service.
  • Support in pursuing new opportunities, working on proposals, and joining pitches.
  • Develop and maintain client relationships alongside Deal Advisory.
  • Serve as a key point of contact for clients, legal advisers, and other teams to facilitate effective delivery.
  • Prepare and oversee detailed technical advice on a range of UK and international tax issues.
  • Perform and oversee detailed analysis of tax-related documents/data, highlighting key issues and articulating their commercial impact.
  • Collaborate with other UK and overseas tax specialists, critically analyzing and challenging their input.
  • Demonstrate up-to-date tax technical knowledge regarding key UK and OECD developments.
  • Understand financial models from a tax perspective.
Key requirements:
  • Qualified CTA or ACA/CA or equivalent, ideally with a background in UK corporation tax
  • Ambitious, enthusiastic, with a keen interest in transactions.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong UK corporate tax knowledge and awareness of other tax and accounting matters.
  • Strong analytical skills, curiosity, and a commercial approach to resolving issues and providing advice.
  • Excellent project management skills, including the ability to work as part of a team and take initiative to drive projects forward.
  • Proactive in progressing business opportunities for the long-term benefit of both the firm and the client.
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with clients and other stakeholders.
