Job Description

Primary DetailsTime Type: Full time Worker Type: Employee Underwriting Service Team Leader London The opportunity We currently have a new vacancy for a Service Team Leader to join our Marine and Energy team in London. This is an excellent opportunity to join us at an exciting time; were modernising the business and have some real momentum going. This role will be keyto achieving success in the Underwriting space. Your new role

  • Complete performance and development reviews with your team of Underwriting Assistants, ensuring objectives are aligned to business requirements, and that we facilitate building skills and talent.
  • Proactively manage resource and coordinate, monitor and review workflow to meet all SLAs and compliance requirements.
  • Monitor and review the teams activities and SLA achievement through relevant KPIs. Lead and embed change projects and initiatives, working in partnership with underwriting, operations, IT and change to strive for operational excellence.
  • Complete monthly audit/quality checks to ensure underwriting standards and operational processes are met and adhered to.
  • Ensure the team complies with all legal and regulatory requirements to meet internal and external obligations .
  • Assess, evaluate, and develop recommendations to improve processes, procedures, and structure to improve efficiencies and effectiveness of the area. Collaborating to encourage diverse and inclusive thinking from team members and stakeholders.
  • Understand customer needs and work towards delivery against these, managing expectations .
  • Train and develop team on technical underwriting processes and procedures to ensure consistency of practice and standards .
About you
  • An understanding of class specific underwriting and reinsurance knowledge.
  • Knowledge to legal and regulatory requirements (specific reference to FSA/Lloyds regulation) .
  • Intermediate level understanding of Word, Excel, and other relevant software packages .
  • In depth knowledge of underwriting admin processes and procedures .
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a clear focus on aspirational leadership .
  • Good negotiating and influencing stakeholder skills .
  • Strong/established customer/broker relationships .
  • A high level of numeracy and literacy with focus on attention to detail .
  • The ability to analyse data and use for decision making .
