Title: EL/PL Fee EarnerLocation: SheffieldSalary: £35,000 to £45,000This pivotal full-time role involves managing a caseload of EL/PL (Employers Liability/Public Liability) cases, predominantly fast track and multi-track, within our Sheffield office. As part of our dynamic team, you will handle a variety of EL/PL/RTA personalinjury claims.Key Responsibilities:* Case Management: Oversee your own EL/PL caseload, ensuring efficient progress from initial enquiry through to litigation and settlement. * Team Collaboration: Support the Director of EL/PL in managing the teams case progression and achieving key targets. Maintain compliance with relevant protocols, rules, and internal procedures. * Client Relations: Build and sustain strong relationships with clients and third parties, ensuring exceptional service delivery. * Litigation: Conduct litigated claims, preparing and collating evidence, and handling contentious issues regarding liability, causation, and quantum. * Administrative Duties: Manage your task list, organise your workload, and maintain up-to-date case records. Assist with vetting new instructions and preparing internal review forms. * Court Representation: Attend court for case management conferences, application hearings, and pre-trial reviews, conducting advocacy where necessary. * Technical Expertise: Apply your knowledge of civil procedures and case law to maximise damages and cost recovery, effectively utilising Part 36 where appropriate. Scope of the Role:* Progress cases to maximise damages and cost recovery. * Prepare for and conduct litigated claims. * Assist the Director in managerial reviews and team support. * Ensure compliance with funding and indemnity principles, including handling CFAs and success fees. Principal Accountabilities:* Manage all aspects of injury claims from enquiry to settlement. * Draft legal documents and applications. * Provide technical and tactical support to the team. * Assess and advise on prospects of success regularly. Person Specification:Behaviours: * Prioritise workload and make decisions aligned with the role. * Exhibit a structured and organised approach. * Flexibility to meet targets and deadlines. * Work independently and as part of a team. * Handle detailed information with accuracy. * Maintain a positive, proactive attitude. Experience: * Minimum of 5 years experience in EL/PL personal injury claims preferred. * Proven track record in managing a litigated caseload. * Experience in meeting targets and working to deadlines. * Familiarity with legal, insurance, or professional environments. * Proficient in case management systems. Knowledge: * In-depth understanding of EL/PL scenarios and procedures. * Excellent grasp of civil procedure and litigation tactics. Skills/Qualifications: * Ability to set and achieve targets. * Competence in evidence collection and case progression. * Strong verbal and written communication skills. * Effective negotiation abilities. * Capacity to cover for team members as needed. * Solicitor, CILEX, or highly experienced litigation fee earner. * Proficient in MS Word, Excel, and general computer skills; experience with Proclaim is advantageous.
