Job Description

Locum Childcare Lawyer – Predominately Remote Working – £55 per hour Umbrella – South WestVenn Group’s Public Sector Legal team are currently assisting a South West Local Authority which is seeking to appoint an experienced Locum Childcare Lawyer to join their team.Expected duration:3 months initially with a possible further extensionSkill level:Qualified Lawyer(Solicitors, Barristers and highly experienced CILEX professionals)Working pattern:Predominately remote workingwith the exception of attending court when required.Full time preferredDuties may include:

  • Managing a busy and varied caseload of Childcare cases to include all pre-proceedings
  • Performing own advocacy at CMH Hearings
  • Advising at LPM and PLO meetings
  • Advising client departments on complex issues concerning Childcare law
  • Providing Childcare Public Law advice and undertake all aspects of Care Proceedings work
  • Attending and advise at meetings attended by professionals, particularly Legal Planning Meetings and PLO meetings and other similar meetings
  • Conducting advocacy before the Family Courts and instruct counsel and the Councils in-house advocates where appropriate as well as preparation of cases
  • Maintaining an awareness of all relevant legislation, policy and regulations related to Childcare matter
  • Investigating and advising on implications of changing legislation, case law and codes of practice and policy and provide briefing notes and training for colleagues and client officers.
