Job Description

Job role: BuyerType of Employment: PermSalary: £30,000 - £40,000Location: WakefieldFull job descriptionMy client is a leading Design and Installation supplier of Fire Sprinkler and Low Pressure Water Mist systems.Established in 2012, successfully growing year-on-year to the stable and ambitious company we are today, My client is one of the regions leading Fire Sprinkler contractors. With a host of blue-chip clients and a vast portfolio of hotels, tower blocks, schoolscare homes and more, with a sizeable orderbook already secured for the remainder of 2024, we offer a varied workload with great opportunities for education and progression.Key Responsibilities:

  • Source, select, and negotiate with vendors and suppliers to obtain competitive pricing and favourable terms for materials, equipment, and subcontracted services.
  • Collaborate with project managers and engineers to identify project-specific procurement requirements and ensure timely delivery of materials and equipment to job sites.
  • Evaluate supplier capabilities, reliability, and performance to maintain a network of trusted partners.
  • Manage inventory levels to meet project demands while minimising excess inventory and carrying costs.
  • Track and report on inventory metrics, including turnover rates, stock levels, and procurement lead times.
  • Develop and implement cost reduction strategies without compromising quality or project timelines.
  • Maintain accurate records of procurement transactions, contracts, and vendor communications.
  • Participate in audits and inspections to verify compliance with applicable standards and regulations.
Role Requirements:
  • Experience in a procurement role in the construction industry, ideally in the M&E sector.
  • Experience procuring materials relative to M&E installs
  • Capable of forging and maintaining lasting relationships with suppliers
  • High attention to detail and strong work ethic
