Job Description

Sheridan Maine is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Finance Officer to join a reputable manufacturing business located near Walsall. This is an exciting opportunity to support and assist the Business Controller in performing Accounts Receivable,Accounts Payable and various administrative duties to ensure the timely reporting of financials.Responsibilities of the Finance Officer will include:

  • Manage incoming payments and allocate to customer accounts.
  • Process card payments via online portal and update ledger.
  • Chase overdue payments and maintain block list monitoring.
  • Handle customer queries, providing copy invoices and Proof of Deliveries.
  • Control accounts receivables for key industry accounts.
  • Process new credit applications, including trade references and credit checks.
  • Check and code vendor invoices for processing.
  • Assist in month-end postings such as transport accruals and clearing suspense accounts.
  • Support annual closing and external audits.
  • Maintain monthly control accounts for P&L and Balance Sheet codes.
  • Handle credit card expenses, employee expenses, and petty cash.
  • Assist with Quality Assurance and Health & Safety administration.
The successful Finance Officer:
  • AAT qualification or working towards a relevant finance qualification.
  • Previous experience in a similar finance role, preferably within a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency in using accounting software and MS Office, particularly Excel.
  • Experience with ERP systems (preferably SAP).
