Buyer GBP25,000 - GBP35,000 Whitstable We are working with a leading UK manufacturer who are looking for a Buyer to join their team. As a Buyer you will be responsible for supplier management, working to procurement strategy, negotiating contracts and purchasing stock, whilst considering the business requirements and keeping an eye on the cost-effectiveness of the operation. Also be responsible for the on time supply of procured parts, services and assemblies in accordance with internal policies and procedures, whilst contributing in daily communications with planning and manufacturing to discuss any stock and logistic issues to ensure on time deliveries. Key Responsibilities include: · Negotiating with suppliers of products/materials/ services to achieve cost savings and/or mitigate prices increases, combined with the requisite levels of quality and service · Analysing MRP reports, internal of-line reports, and other sources as necessary to identify purchasing requirements (including for non-MRP items where required), as well as raising/expediting relevant purchase orders as appropriate · Controlling inventory levels of raw materials and minimising wherever possible to maximise working capital and warehouse space without affecting production; ensuring accurate stock positions are reflected in M1 at all times · Reducing supplier quality issues in number and value, and ensuring recovery of all rework costs while ensuring continuity of supply; ensuring that quality and audit actions are completed in a timely manner · Monitoring and improving suppliers performance through regular discussion and review Essential Qualities Include: · Higher level qualification or equivalent experience · Buying experience · Experience working within a fast moving production environment · Proven track record and thorough knowledge of all aspects of procurement including sourcing, commercial negotiation, supplier management and global sourcing · Proven ability to work within agreed budgets and timescales · Strong vendor management skills · Solid background in supply management, with strong discipline in supplier cost avoidance · Focus on goal achievement with an excellent background in senior-level negotiations · Experience in Microsoft Office packages (Excel, Word and PowerPoint) · Knowledge of supply chain practices · Highly analytical with the ability to confidently understand and use MRP systems · Team player with a can-do attitude to achieve departmental goals Required skills
