Job Description

We are recruiting for Buisness development officer role based in Wolverhampton, this is a fixed term part time contract until March 2025.Hourly rate: £21.47 PayeWorking hours: 18.5 hours per weekLocation: Wolverhampton (Hybrid based)Job Purpose and RoleThe role plays a key role supporting the Wolverhampton Business Development Team in the delivery of a high quality-in-depth finance specific comprehensive business support function acrossgrant applications from Wolverhampton companies.Working as member ofthe Wolverhampton Business Development Team core team, the postholder will lead on the facilitation of access to finance, financial support services and provide financial planning for Black Country businesses.The role is fundamental to the delivery of the UKSPF Business grant Programme and will work in partnership with delivery officers (Business Account Managers) fromthe Business Development Team. In partnership with Account Managers, the post holder will beresponsible for the delivery of a targeted financial planning and reviews to businesses as part of developing their growth plans and grant applications.The postholder will also work alongside other members of the central core team, the Business Development Manager, Business Development Officers (Grants), Project Support Officer (Claims and Monitoring) in supporting the grant processes ensuring: robust grantapplications are produced, due diligence checks, gateway assessments, appraisal and approval.Principal Duties and ResponsibilitiesCarry out Financial Reviews of grant applicants via the last 2 years registered accounts, the latest management accounts (P&L and Balance Sheet), Profit & Loss statement, and the last 60 days bank statements to assess the financial viability of the grantapplicant businessesReviewing financial options for growth and making recommendations on the most appropriate strategies,Assessing the business need, assisting with investment readiness, providing support to further understanding of the access to finance landscape and if necessary broker introductions to funders; to increase the probability of a successful outcome.Identify potential funding sources for businesses as part of their growth plan.Working with BDOs in assessing the growth potential of businesses, diagnose barriers to growth and agree action plans to overcome them.Directly support businesses with grant applications for revenue and capital investment.To establish and maintain effective relationships with key national, regional and local funders to ensure provision of valid and relevant information to businessesTo lead the delivery and development of Access to Finance Products including the Meet the Funder Event and the Funding Factsheet.Carrying out Undertakings in Difficulty Tests through completing a Financial Review of the companyProviding direct financial planning and reviews in developing growth plans/ grant applications.Assistance in developing and reviewing credible cash flow forecastsAssistance in developing and reviewing income / expenditure statements and projectionsRecord and respond to incoming queries, providing support by telephone and email, as required.
